Rick Poage

Sports Car Correspondent

Rick Poage is a Sales & Marketing Manager/Entrepreneur, permanently engaged in all things “Corvette” and sports cars. Evolving originally, from the self-proclaimed “First Die-Hard ALMS Fan” to his Certification as an HPDE L2 On-Track Instructor (NASA, HOD, TrackDaze, DriveLab, NCM, and Chin Motorsports), to his on-air Sports Car Correspondent’s appointment with In The Pits Racing Media today, he has become affectionately known in the DC Corvette community as “Racer Rick” (aka Corvette Rick).

Born in Wyoming and raised in Austin, TX, Rick has been driving sports cars since 1980, when he first bought Datsun’s now-legendary 240Z. Many cars later, after buying his first Corvette in 1996, he joined the local club and began competing in the ranks of NCCC, eventually winning several Class trophies in their Low/Hi Speed Autocross series, both regionally and nationally. Thirsting for more (speed!), he quickly migrated to the road courses of the Mid Atlantic; Summit Point, VIR, Pocono, Pittsburg Intl. Raceway (formerly BeaverRun), NJMP, Road Atlanta, and CMP.  As an Instructor, he personally installs and proudly represents the CarboTech and RaceKeeper product lines.

Starting his career early, immediately following High School, he was training Architects how to use AutoCAD, leading to a 15+ year vocation as a Technical Sales Rep in the software/printing industry.  He is currently managing the Sales & Marketing department at Cooper Corvettes in Quantico, VA.

When he’s not selling/driving/modifying a Corvette, Rick is also an avid home theater/audiophile (vinyl is back!), movie hound, accomplished mechanic, big game hunter, computer nerd, and a certifiable gadget-geek.
