Description
We start off thanking the staff at Richmond International Raceway for a weekend of great racing, the Friday night fights, and our new t-shirt- “Racing at Richmond, it’s like a kick in the nuts”- Special Thanks to Dominion Raceway and BK Racing. We delve into the announcement that NASCAR’s K&N Filter Series will race on August 24th at VIR- it will be the second road race for a series where the drivers have little road racing experience. Adam Firth, Director of International Business for the Australian V8 Super Car series discusses the race in Austin as well potentially the series will hold “several events” while they are here in the USA in the future. It is expensive for them to fly two 747’s full of cars and equipment as well as about 400 drivers, crew members and support personnel. Eric Jones and Jason “The Juice” Smith caught up with AJ Allmendinger. The “Dinger” admits he is nervous about running in the Indy 500. He further states that he feels much more comfortable in the large body cars that he races in NASCAR. When you think of BMW and racing, the first person who comes to mind is Bill Auberlen. He has raced for BMW for 19 seasons. He compares the win at Long Beach and the fact that the new Z-4 has come of age so quickly. Also, he will race for Aston Martin at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He also discusses the new United Sports Car Series in 2014 and how it will affect his position in sports car racing. Shawn Langdon, top fuel driver for Al Anabi Racing discusses working for the Sheik and tuner Allan Johnson. He came up via a National Championship racing Jr. Dragster. He speaks about how competitive Top Fuel racing is in the NHRA in 2013. The Freedom Behind the Wheel 2 Hour enduro is this Saturday night at Sumit Point Karting from 8-10 the event is in conjunction with the SCCA Double National held this weekend as well.
